UCL: Why Bayern Munich eliminated Arsenal from competition – Arteta

Written by on April 18, 2024

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has blamed his side’s lack of experience for their Champions League exit in the hands of Bayern Munich.

The Gunners travelled to Germany for the second leg with the tie balanced at 2-2.

Although Arteta’s men had a few chances to take the lead, it was Joshua Kimmich’s bullet header that proved crucial, as the hosts won 1-0.

Bayern will now play Real Madrid in the semi-final of the competition.

Arteta, speaking to TNT Sports, said: “We tried against a team who has a lot of experience and through the tie the margins have been very small. There were moments where we were better.

“We gave them two goals and in the tie that was a big advantage to give away.

“You could see there was zero margin for error and we made a big mistake defending the box to concede the goal. Then it was difficult. We tried in many different ways but it’s difficult.”
